NMC Trading, Radikal join hands in food products business

Radikal marks its ambitious entry into Middle Eastern market with premium Basmati rice; aims to reach 65 countries by end-2013


Dubai, UAE, December 3rd, 2012:NMC Trading, the trading division of NMC Healthcare, and Radikal, a leading Indian exporter of high-quality food products, officially announced their alliance today to introduce Radikal's premium Basmati rice into the UAE market a part of Radikal's ambitious expansion strategy to reach 65 countries by end-2013.
The Radikal brand was unveiled at a high-profile event held at Dubai's prestigious Armani Hotel, by Dr. B.R. Shetty, CEO of NMC Healthcare, Siddharth Chaudhary, Managing Director of Radikal and Binay Shetty, Chief Operating Officer of NMC Healthcare. As per the terms of the alliance, NMC Trading will distribute Radikal products across the UAE.
Radikal's entry into the UAE further consolidates India's position as the world's leading exporter of basmati rice, accounting for over 60 per cent of the world's exports. According to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the New Delhi-based state run export registration agency, India produced a record 103 million tons of rice in the 2011-12 crop year that ended in June, a jump of about 8% over the previous year, including 5 million tons of basmati rice.
According to Commodity Online, India's basmati rice exports stood at a record 3.21 million tons in 2011-12 against 2.18 million tons the previous year, with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE retaining their position as the biggest importers of Indian basmati rice. Basmati and non-basmati rice exports from India together account for a staggering 7.3 million tons in 2011-2012.

Speaking about the launch, Siddharth Chaudhary said, This is a time of unprecedented growth for Radikal and for basmati rice manufacturers in India. We are among the leading food manufacturers in the domestic Indian market and have successfully taken the Radikal experience to many more countries, including Europe, North America and Africa. In less than four years, Radikal has reached over 30 countries and we aim to increase that number to 65 by end-2013.
In his statement, Dr. B.R. By adding the Radikal food products to our extensive portfolio, we are exceeding consumer expectations of more balanced and healthy food.
Radikal's rice is sourced from the foothills of the Himalayas and other select rice-growing regions of North India. The grains are then processed at Radikal's state-of-the-art facilities in Garhmukhteshwar, Uttar Pradesh to ensure unmatched quality, purity and taste. Radikal basmati rice will be available in five flavours Aqua Mist, Morvarid, Pristine, Radikal Mazza and Ruby. The range will appeal to food lovers who seek natural, nutritious and fat-free alternatives in their diets.
Currently, Radikal operates in 30 countries, including those in the GCC, Levant, Asia, Iran, Iraq, Europe, United States, Canada, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
