People travel for different reasons. Experiencing new cultures makes one have a broader view of the world. There are many different ways to live.Meeting new people from different cultures helps open up the mind to different viewpoints and to a greater understanding of oneself.

In the last 20-30 years and more extotic destinations have become more easily accessible, and cheaper than before.

While travelling different changellanges and settings arise on a daily basis, these changellanges help us to learn how to deal with situations that are out of our comfort zone. Thus building a stronger and more confident character.

Travelling is also a  great way to escape from the bailey grind and it helps to refresh ourselves and to destress.

it could just be the fact that some well deserved, time off is required. We all need a break/holiday from time to time. Sometimes that includes having nothing to do for a couple of weeks a year.

The way in which people travel has changed over the years, during the 1960;s, Hitch-Hiking through Europe became very popular, not only is it a exciting and fun way to meet new people but it also means it is not necessary to buy a car, no car, no need to pay for petrol or car maintenance. It also helps build strong friendships with people that might not have ever met.

Although Hitch-hiking became, for many a lifestyle it is not as popular as it once was.

This maybe to do with people now travel in different ways and there is more options available then back in 1960;s

People who travel want to experience something different to what they are used to.

Travelling is not for everyone, it can be a very daunting prospect. Not knowing a language or how to travel from destination to destination might put some people off.

As we get older we generally have more responsibility, family, career or maybe a mortgage. For this reason a younger person would more likely travel further a field and for a longer period of time.

Or there is the other end of the spectrum where adults reach a certain age and the kids are all grown up, they want to look for a new adventure. Sell their house and jet off around the world.

Travelling in 2020

Not only has the COVID-19 affected the travel industry and tourist hotspots, but,

for some citizens even leaving the house has become a struggle. Some countries have not only stopped inward and outward flights, but internal restrictions have been put in place.

People who were already abroad before the virus, in many cases, are unable to travel back home. There has been the option of evacuation flights, which have been a lot more expensive than a normal flight.

Although no-one knows when it will be over, staying in an unfamiliar country might not be the best choice. There is still food, accommodation and in some places, visas have to be paid for. Knowing what outgoings will be spent compared on a flight back home is essential. As no-one knows when it will be possible to travel again.

Many people, including some famous people, are starting to think more and more about how to fight climate change. As airplanes contribute massively to climate change, many people are starting to boycott the use of airplanes.

Different Types of Travel Destinations

With age comes responsibility, more responsibility the less freedom people have. Therefore, the younger generation is more likely to go backpacking around Southeast Asia, rather than on an all inclusive package deal. The question of health is something to consider when deciding where to go, in some cases it might be better not to travel.

A keen sailor would most definitely check out the Greek islands. Out of the 6000 islands only 227 are inhabitant. The medieterian sea is also known for its calmness. Due to the way the land is layed out, it is easy to navigate around with not much danger of being shipwrecked. The islands themselves are fairly close together which makes them easy and safe to access.

As far off places become more accessible Walking holidays have become more popular. This gives keen walkers the option for more changellenging walking routes.

Stretching across 5 different countries the Hymlan mountains are definitely desirable locations for a walking enthusiast.

With the help of the internet volunteering abroad has recently become popular. Before the internet it would have been hard to find out about such services. Also known as VSO Voluntary Services Abroad.

Many of us like to do something that is rewarding and fulfilling, not just for money but also a personal gain. This could be helping in a butterfly farm or help repair damaged buildings devastated by a natural disaster in a remote part of the world.

It could just be the fact that some well deserved, time off is required. We all need a break/holiday from time to time. The best way to relieve stress is to do something that relaxes us. Sometimes that includes having nothing to do, but lay on a golden sandy  beach or reading a book next to a pool.

Although the travel industry has been affected massively by global events people will inevitably continue to travel. Not always abroad, many people still enjoy holidays in their home country.

it is easy to go for a short break away then a long haul flight. Going abroad generally takes more planning, time and money which not everyone has the time for.

As we get older we have to be more cautious oF our actions, mainly due to health. For someone who is in ill health then going skiing in the Dolomite mountain ranges would not be sensible. The likes of an all inclusive package holiday would be more suited.

There are all kinds of different travel destinations, whether it be for young or old, family, solo or for some it might be better just to stay at home.
