A degree in Political Science and German, a diploma in Cinematography, and to top it all a doctorate in humanities from the University of Paris- The perfect spring board for a career in journalism.
Mr. Padgaonkar covered Europe for The Times of India for five years.
From 1978 to 1986, he served Unesco in senior capacities.
He was appointed Editor of The Times of India in December 1988.
In 1994, Padgaonkar, together with three of his senior colleagues, set up Asia- Pacific Communication Associates (APCA), India's first multi-media organisation run exclusively by media professionals. He is the chairperson of APCA.
He has been an active participant in several international seminars on politics, culture and the media and is also one of the founder- editors of Biblio, a monthly journal devoted to books and ideas.
