Traffic violations up

DUBAI traffic police have registered 1408 traffic violations, a record of sorts, in July at the Dubai airport, with "no parking" violations topping the list. The Traffic Police has stepped up its campaign to rein in errant drivers who violate traffic rules and obstruct traffic and vehicular movement.

According to statistics provided by the department, 388 tickets were issued for blocking traffic flow, 33 for picking up and dropping people outside designated parking places, 20 tickets for not abiding by police orders, 19 for stopping vehicle on pedestrian lane, 10 for driving without holding valid license and nine tickets were given for other violations
